Frederick Gunn students attend classes five days a week and follow a block schedule. Classes meet three times per week for 65 minute blocks. Wednesdays are half days for academics, allowing for our athletic teams to compete in the afternoons.
The typical freshman schedule will include one class in each of the following subjects:
-
English
-
History
-
Science
-
Mathematics
-
World Languages
In addition to these five core classes, freshmen are required to take a one-term course called Pathways, which is part of our Citizenship and Just Democracy Curriculum. Freshmen may also choose to enroll in a single-term course in the Arts, or private music or dance instruction, which is a full-year commitment. An additional one-term, elective course (for example, in the Arts or IDEAS Lab) may be added during the freshman year if a student’s schedule allows and with the approval of the Academic Office.
