Evening Study Hall

Evening Study Hall provides a structured time for all students to practice the basic study skill of independent, focused attention. This is the building block upon which all collaborative, constructive learning is built. Study Hall hours are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday from 8 to 10 p.m., and Friday from 8:30 to 10 p.m.

Freshman Study Hall takes place in a structured dormitory environment for at least 90 minutes each evening and is reinforced with a one-hour study skills seminar on Friday evenings.Group projects may be completed from 7 to 8 p.m. and during free blocks in the academic day.

Sophomores and juniors may choose to work in the dorm, in the dining hall or in the Tisch Family Library, which are all open for quiet study from 8 to 10 p.m. Dorm parents and library proctors help to ensure that all students are studying quietly. Students may be recommended to utilize distraction-free study spaces by the Academic Office.

Seniors are required to participate in Evening Study Hall as they continue to develop greater independence and accountability in preparation for their transition to studying at the college and university level.
