ImPACT Testing

Prior to a student’s involvement in activities at The Frederick Gunn School all students will be required to take an ImPACT Baseline test. This computerized evaluation takes approximately 30 minutes to complete and provides information about a students reaction time, immediate and delayed memory, other mental processes. If a student sustains a concussion while enrolled, this baseline test will be compared to post-injury testing to ensure that a student has returned to their “normal” prior to returning to full participation in physical activity. ImPACT is a tool used by health professionals for objective measurements, but is not the sole tool used in the management of concussions. Due to the adolescents growth and development through their teen years, a new ImPACT baseline test will be completed every two years after a student’s initial test.
