The second installment of The Frederick Gunn School 2021 Speaker Series featured Justin Dunn ’13, right-handed pitcher for the Seattle Mariners, and Jeremy Cohen ’87, Vice President and Group Director of Partnership Activation at Major League Baseball, who shared two different perspectives on their MLB careers, and what their experience has been like living in this time of COVID-19.
On February 3, just nine days before he was due to report for spring training in Arizona, Justin Dunn ’13 of the Seattle Mariners came home to The Gunnery to talk with students, faculty and their families about achieving his childhood dream of becoming a Major League Baseball player.
Justin Dunn '13 will make his Major League Baseball debut as the starting pitcher for the Seattle Mariners in a game against the Cincinnati Reds. When the Mariners' No. 5-ranked prospect takes the mound at 10 p.m. (EST), he will be cheered on by his former coach, Jeff Trundy, along with students and faculty, who filmed their well-wishes in a brief video sent by the school today.
Jeff Trundy, the David N. Hoadley '51 Baseball Coach and a member of the Science Department faculty was honored August 1 for his 20 years as Manager of the Falmouth Commodores. The Commodores dedicated the last regular season home game to Trundy, who is one of the longest-tenured managers in the Cape Cod Baseball League, calling it “Trundy Night.”
