Boys Varsity Ice Hockey

Gunn Boys Ice Hockey has built a strong tradition of excellence since the program's founding in 1918. Playing at the varsity level is a year-round commitment: athletes practice daily, play two to three games a week, and travel extensively during the season and over break for tournaments. Success requires dedication to strength and conditioning as well as ongoing technical skill development. A JV program is also offered.

The program has earned consecutive playoff bids for the last 17 seasons and captured three New England championships in four years — 1987, 1988, and 1990 — before officially moving up to Division I in 1995. Since then, Gunn has carved out a rare niche in prep school hockey: an elite-level program built on a small-school experience, at a time when most of New England's top programs are at large schools.

That combination has paid off. Since 2008, the Highlanders have posted seven consecutive 20-win seasons, seven consecutive NEPSIHA West titles (2008–09 through 2014–15), and six Elite Eight New England Tournament appearances. The team was New England runner-up in 2013–14 and New England Champion in 2015–16.
