Collin Grimes teaches AP Economics, Economics and Modern Global History, and is an Assistant Coach for Varsity Football and JV Boys Ice Hockey. A Nebraska native, Collin earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Nebraska, Kearney, and holds master’s and doctoral degrees in political science from the University of California, Riverside.
Prior to his arrival at Gunn, Collin carried out academic research, publishing journal articles and book chapters, and taught political science at Skidmore College and the University of California, Merced. In 2018, while conducting field research in Santiago, Chile, and Buenos Aires, Argentina, Collin worked as a visiting scholar in the Institute of Political Science at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and collected evidence from historical records in the archives of the Universidad de Buenos Aires’s Institute of Economic Research. He is internationally recognized for his research and writings on comparative political economy, civil-military relations, and defense. In his free time he likes to absorb Modern art, visit new places, and read literary fiction. He lives on campus with his wife, Allyson, and their son, Dorian Beau. They have two cats, Cadence and Bernie.
