Girls Ice Hockey Program
The Gunn Girls Ice Hockey program is built on development, competition, and culture. The team plays a challenging schedule that pushes student-athletes to grow, preparing them to compete for playoff success each season — every practice and game is a chance to improve, individually and collectively. Student-athletes are held to a high standard in terms of their work ethic, accountability, and commitment to being great teammates and community members. Teammates push each other to get better every day, give their all at daily practices, and compete hard while supporting each other fully, without ever losing sight of the joy of playing the game together.
Girls Ice Hockey at Gunn has a proud tradition of success, competing each winter against the best small and large school programs in the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC).

Meet the Coaches

Head CoachDan Allen is Assistant Director of Admissions and Head Coach, Girls Varsity Ice Hockey. A native of Brookfield and graduate of Immaculate High School and Proctor Academy, Dan holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Western Connecticut State University, where he played hockey and baseball. Prior to joining FGS, he served as a history teacher and Head Ice Hockey Coach at Vermont Academy. He was also the academy’s Head Coach for Varsity Boys Golf and Assistant Coach for Varsity Boys Soccer. Dan served as Director of Danbury Arena Hockey and Assistant Coach for the NCAA Division II hockey team at St. Michael’s College. He was a camp coach for the New York Rangers and Elite Hockey as well as a USA Hockey instructor and evaluator in Vermont.

Assistant CoachAbby Weiss joined Gunn in 2025 as a member of the English Department faculty and Assistant Coach for Girls Varsity Hockey and Girls JV Lacrosse. Raised in Lexington, Massachusetts, Weiss is a graduate of The Rivers School and Hamilton College, where she majored in psychology and minored in literature and public policy. At Hamilton, Weiss helped to lead the Women’s Ice Hockey Team to two NCAA appearances (including a final four) and served as a team captain. She also led an intramural sports league on campus, and headed a community service initiative for the women's ice hockey team. Fun fact: she is a huge Boston sports fan. Go Red Sox!

Alumnae Spotlight
Noemi "Nemo" Neubauerová '18 played for four years at Colgate University followed by a fifth season at Providence College (under pandemic rules), and represented the Czech Republic in the 2022 and 2026 Olympic Games. She played in the PWHL’s inaugural season for the Toronto Sceptres and in 2026 signed a reserve player contract with the PWHL’s Boston Fleet.
Kristýna Pátková ‘18 went on to play Division I hockey at the University of Vermont and has won back-to-back World Championship bronze medals with the Czech national team. She also represented the Czech Republic in the 2022 Beijing Olympics.
Kayla Meneghin ‘14 helped to lead SUNY Plattsburgh to three national championships before playing professionally in the NWHL. Her Connecticut Whale teammates included Sarah Hughson ’14, who earned CCM/AHCA First Team All-American honors, was named UCHC Player of the Year, and was Elmira College’s Female Athlete of the Year; and Samantha Walther ’14, who was a two-time NESCAC First Team and All-American selection during her record-breaking tenure at Hamilton College.
