Girls Varsity Lacrosse

Gunn Girls Lacrosse is a force. The program competes in the Western New England Prep School Lacrosse Association (WNEPSLA) Class B division, alongside teams from Canterbury School, Kent School, Hopkins, Millbrook, and Berkshire, among others. Practices and games focus on fundamentals and a collegiate approach to strategy. “Doing the little things well” — ground balls, draw controls, caused turnovers, and off-ball movement — is the team's mantra, and a point of emphasis in every practice. Equally important to the coaching staff: instilling teamwork, respect, hard work, and fun in everything the team does, so that players graduate not just as skilled athletes, but as individuals of strong character and purpose.

The program's growth over the past two years has been impressive. The varsity roster carries around 20 spots with student-athletes from all over the country, earning consistent All NEPSAC Honors. Girls Varsity Lacrosse players at Gunn are repeatedly selected to represent Connecticut at the USA Lacrosse Women's National Tournament, and are consistently named to the New Balance All American, and American Select showcases.

Varsity players compete in two to three games per week on average and lift as a team twice a week. JV is also offered, for players developing at the beginner or intermediate level, with an emphasis on teamwork, sportsmanship, and learning the fundamentals of the game.
