Thirty-one students in the Technique & Artistry co-curricular program as well as the Introduction to Printmaking and Digital Photography classes at Gunn will have their original artwork featured in the Kent Art Association’s 31st Student Art Show. The opening is this Saturday, February 18, from 2 to 5 p.m., with an awards presentation at 3 p.m., at Kent Art Association, 21 South Main Street in Kent.
Representing Gunn this year are: Jim Nguyen '25, Carter Barry '25, William Cao '25, Jingfeng Chen '24, Frank Fan '23, Youying Gong '26, Joanna (Tianzi) Jin '24 (pictured above), Sebastian Komaritsky '25, Adrien Morlet '23, Gavin Yin '26, Maggie Perrella '23, Lucy Sanchez '23, Hugo Vilbois '23, Duanduan Wang '23, David Wang '25, Rocky Wang '25, Rocky (Xinyu) Tian '25, Lucus Yin '23, Zining Lu '24, Bunny Borzilleri '24, Justin (Jingtai) Cui '24, Ricky Zhang '23, Luke Christos '24, Ava Gleason '26, Olivia Kurtz '25, Ava Veronneau '24, Erin Duffy '24, Meadow Drakeley '26, Ethan Golden '25, Nick Wang '25, and Cosme Vega Gonzalez-Ruiz '23.
In addition to The Frederick Gunn School, the juried exhibit will feature work by students from Housatonic Valley Regional High School, Forman School, The Hotchkiss School, Millbrook High School, Marvelwood School, Kent School and South Kent School. There will be a “best of school’ award for each school participating in this year’s show. The Connie Horton Award of Excellence, named in honor of a beloved KAA past president and lifelong art teacher Connie Horton, will be presented for “best in show,” the art association said.
KAA is a non-profit and volunteer community organization celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. The Student Art Show will remain on view through February 26. Gallery hours are Thursday-Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. For more information, visit kentart.org.
