Boys Varsity Ice Hockey Advances to New England Championship

The Boys Varsity Hockey Team beat #6 seed The Governor’s Academy 3-1 in the NEPSAC semifinal at home today. With the win, the team will host Pomfret School (#4 seed) in the New England Championship final at Linen Rink this Sunday, March 6, at 2:30 p.m. The game will be a rematch from the 2020 New England Championship game, which the Highlanders won against Pomfret.
 

The Highlanders are the #2 seed in the 2022 NEPSAC Boys Ice Hockey Piatell/Simmons Tournament Bracket and beat #7 seed St. George’s School 3-1 in the quarterfinal on March 2. That game was also played at home. For both the quarterfinal and semifinal games, Linen Rink was packed with fans, including students, faculty, staff, alumni, and families, who were proud to cheer on the Highlanders at home. Athletic. Director Mike Marich P'23 '24 and Head Boys Hockey Coach Craig Badger are encouraging Gunn supporters to turn out in force again for the Championship game on Sunday. 

Boys Varsity Hockey finished its regular season strong with a 3-1 win over Berkshire School on February 26, and a record of 22-12 under the leadership of Badger and Assistant Coaches Shane Gorman ’10, James LeBlanc and Chris Gragnano.
