Highlanders to Perform at All-State Music Festival

Gunn Music students Aryel Sealey, Stella Zhu and Colin Hall

Three students from the Gunn Music Program will perform at the Connecticut Music Educators Association’s All-State Music Festival being held this weekend, April 4-6, at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford. The students were selected by audition after qualifying for the CMEA Northern Region Festival in February.

Colin Hall ’24, bass voice, and Aryel Sealey ’25, tenor voice, will perform with the All-State Mixed Chorus, conducted by Arianne G. Abela, Ph.D., Director of the Choral Music Program and Lecturer in Music at Amherst College. Stella Zhu ’25, alto voice, will perform with the All-State Treble Choir, conducted by Jamie Hillman, Ph.D., who holds the endowed Elmer Iseler Chair in Conducting at the University of Toronto, where he is Director of Choral Studies and an Associate Professor.

“They will surely represent Gunn proudly amongst the best high school student musicians in the state!” said Ron Castonguay P’27, Director of the Arts and Music Director, who will accompany the students.

Both choirs will perform in a concert that will also feature the All-State Jazz Band at 1 p.m. on April 6 at the Connecticut Convention Center. Doors open at 12:30 p.m. General admission tickets are $27 and must be purchased online using a credit card. Children under age 6 will be admitted for free (no ticket required).
