The Frederick Gunn School to Celebrate 172nd Commencement Exercises

Class of 2020 Celebration

On Sunday, May 29, 2022, The Frederick Gunn School will graduate 94 students, representing 14 states and 10 countries, who compose the Class of 2022. This will be the 172nd Commencement of the school, which was founded in 1850 by abolitionist, outdoorsman and pioneering educator Frederick Gunn.
 

The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. and is open to students, faculty, and invited guests only. The event will be livestreamed. Head of School Peter Becker will deliver the Commencement Address and present the school’s three top awards: The Gunn Cup, the Brinsmade Prize and the Head of School’s Prize. Prior to the granting of diplomas, Eddie Rayhill ’22 will deliver the Head Prefect Address. Additional prizes will be presented during Prize Night on May 28, which will also be livestreamed.

The Frederick Gunn School, founded in 1850, is a co-ed boarding and day school for 315 students in grades 9-12 as well as a post-graduate year located in Washington, Connecticut. Frederick Gunn was a pioneering educator, courageous abolitionist, and rugged outdoorsman.
