Dear Frederick Gunn School Families,
We are writing to you on behalf of our International Support team to inquire about your child’s travel plans and also provide you with current updates to the State of Connecticut’s travel restrictions. Recently, the State of Connecticut altered its quarantine requirement for travelers who are coming from states on the travel advisory list or countries that have been issued a Level 3 travel notice by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Specifically, the state will exempt travelers from these affected areas from the 14-day self-quarantine requirement if they have had a test for COVID-19 in the 72 hours prior to arriving in Connecticut and the result of the test is negative.
The Frederick Gunn School has been adhering to the State of Connecticut's travel advisory and we are now happy to welcome students to campus as soon as they have a negative COVID-19 PCR test and are cleared to return by our Health Center. This test must be a COVID-19 PCR test and not an antigen or antibody test. The test must be obtained in your home country within 72 hours of arriving in Connecticut OR the test must be completed in Connecticut. A student will need to quarantine off campus while awaiting results if the test is obtained in Connecticut until the negative test result is provided to our Health Center. Finally, travelers are still required to submit the travel health form and may be subject to penalty by the State of Connecticut if they fail to do so. Please refer to Connecticut's travel website for more information.
In addition to submitting the Connecticut travel health form, you will need to upload your child’s negative COVID-19 PCR test result to the Magnus Health student tracker located in the Resource tab of Highlander Nation. For any questions, please reach out to our Health Center at healthdept@frederickgunn.org.
To assist us in preparing for your child’s return to campus, we ask that you please provide us with the following information:
- Does your child have a student visa? If not, do you have a visa appointment and if yes, when is it scheduled?
- If your child has a visa, do you have travel arrangements booked to the United States? If yes, when and where will your child be arriving?
- If you currently do not have a visa or travel arrangements, does your child still plan on coming to campus at some point during this school year? If yes, when?
We are hopeful that the changes in the Connecticut travel restrictions will enable your child to return to campus soon. If you have questions or concerns, please email intsupport@frederickgunn.org.
Thank you.
