Admissions Hosts New Virtual Events in January

The Admissions Office is hosting three special events this month to help prospective students and families get to know The Frederick Gunn School. These virtual events provide informal opportunities to engage with current students, parents, admissions officers, and alumni in a relaxed setting.

Alexandra V. Ince P’20 ’23, Director of Enrollment, will share information about next steps in the application process during our final Highlander Coffee Hour of the season this Saturday, January 9, from 9‒10 a.m. EST. Register here.

Two FGS Student and Alumni Forums are also planned, featuring alumni who will discuss how their Highlander experiences prepared them for college, their careers and life beyond high school. The first forum, featuring U.S. alumni, will be held on Thursday, January 14, from 7-8 a.m. EST. Register here. A second forum, on Saturday, January 16, from 8-9 a.m. EST, will feature international alumni. Register here.

For those who are unable to join in person, all sessions are being recorded. Links to previous Highlander Coffee Hours and our fall FGS Forum, which was similar in format to a traditional open house, are available on the Admissions Calendar of Events page.

Personalized Connections
The admissions process for the 2021-22 school year has been redesigned with a welcoming, virtual format. Current students lead prospective students and parents on personalized tours of campus via Zoom, using an interactive map as a guide. Interviews are conducted via Zoom, offering students and parents an opportunity to meet one-to-one with an Admissions Officer and ask questions. Virtual meetings with specific teachers, coaches, and parent ambassadors may be scheduled upon request.

All of these experiences are designed to give those who are new to FGS a sense of what it is like to be on campus – and be welcomed into the community – in person.  “Due to our current health and safety protocols, we aren’t able to invite families to visit and interview in person for the 2021-22 school year, but we are making as many high-touch, personalized connections with families as possible,” Ince said.

The current application deadline is January 15. Submit your application and find additional information on our Admissions Process page.
